What are spiral springs?
Spiral springs, also called clock springs or power springs, are made from flat strip material wound into a compact spiral. They store rotational energy and deliver torque through controlled winding and unwinding around a central arbor.
Working Principle
How this spring type works.
One end of the strip is fixed to an arbor and the other to a housing or driven component. Rotation tightens or relaxes the spiral, creating bending stress along the strip. The stored energy then produces a restoring torque over the designed angular travel.
